Did You Know?
Before Facebook launched its Like button in 2009, the team that built it called it the "Awesome button." Mark Zuckerberg made the final call on the name "Like."

How to Get Started
Getting started in UX/UI design begins with noticing how people use things and trying to make them easier. You can build the habits designers rely on, like watching closely, sketching quickly, and testing your ideas with real people, long before you open a design tool. Good design begins with watching someone use something and asking what made it hard.
Explore the Basics
Pick three pictures you see every day, like the power symbol, the volume symbol, or the play triangle. Ask a grown-up what each one means and how they learned it. Draw a new picture for each one and see whether a friend or family member can guess what it does.
Try It Out
Hide a small toy somewhere in your home and draw a map using only pictures and arrows, with no words. Give the map to a friend or family member and watch where they get stuck without helping. Change your map and try again until they find the toy easily.
Join the Community
Ask a grown-up to take you to a place many people use, like a library, a bus stop, or a grocery store self-checkout. Watch quietly how people use the signs and machines and notice where someone gets stuck. Tell a grown-up one thing you would change to make it easier.
