Did You Know?
Psychologists study dreams, memory, why people fall for magic tricks, and even how video games and social media apps are designed to hold your attention.

How to Get Started
Getting started in psychology begins with curiosity about people and a willingness to really listen. From noticing your own feelings to studying real research, there are ways to explore this field at every age.
Explore the Basics
Start by paying attention to your own feelings and the feelings of people around you. Notice what makes you happy, nervous, or frustrated, and try to guess how a character in a book or show might be feeling and why.
Try It Out
Keep a simple feelings journal for a week, drawing or writing about your emotions each day and what caused them. Play a “detective” game with a parent where you both guess how people in a story or a photo might be feeling, then talk about the clues you used.

Ask your school counselor to visit your class or talk with you about what their job involves. Look for kid-friendly books or shows about emotions and the brain at your local library.
