Business analysts at a major airline discovered that passengers who booked window seats were significantly more likely to buy in-flight upgrades than those who booked aisle seats, a finding that changed how the airline structured its upsell offers across millions of flights
How to Get Started
The skills that make someone a strong business analyst, noticing patterns, asking sharper questions, and turning information into clear conclusions, are ones you can start building right now. Every dataset you encounter, every problem you try to understand, and every question you chase down is part of the foundation.
Explore the Basics
Walk through one room of your home and count how many of each type of item you can find, books, shoes, cups, or anything else, then organize your findings into a simple chart or list. Look at what the numbers tell you about how your family uses that space and whether anything surprises you. Turning a real-world observation into organized information that reveals something new is exactly what business analysts do.
Try It Out
Conduct a survey of at least ten people in your household or neighborhood asking one simple question, like "what is your favorite meal of the week and why?" Collect the answers, group them by theme, and draw a simple chart showing what you found. Turning a pile of answers into something visual that tells a clear story is one of the most fundamental skills in business analysis.
