Mae Jemison

Who She Is: 

Mae Jemison became the first African American woman to travel into space when she flew aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992. She studied engineering, medicine, and dance, demonstrating that astronauts can bring a diverse range of talents to the job.
